Steps To Take If You Are A Victim of Identity Theft

  • File a police report: get a copy of the report or a case number. It's your proof of the crime when dealing with creditors holding the fraudulent accounts.

  • If phishing or other online fraud, contact Guaranty Bank immediately at 414-362-4636 or 1-800-235-INFO (4636).

  • Call one of the three major credit bureaus:

  • Have a "fraud alert" placed on your file so new credit cannot be given without your approval. Each credit bureau automatically alerts the other two.

  • Request and review your credit report carefully. You are entitled to one free credit report from each bureau every 12 months.
